General Plan

Hello neighbors. Richmond City is currently in the process of creating a revised General Plan for the city. The General Plan is a non-binding document with general guidelines for the future of the city, particularly as they relate to planning, zoning, growth, and development. The General Plan also includes guidelines for the future of roads, parks and trails, city annexation, public facilities, historic sites, water, and sewer. The most recent plan was completed in 1999. Much of what has been established in that plan will likely remain the same, but due to recent changes in laws at the state level there is a need to update and revise. As a member of the planning and zoning commission, I was asked to participate on the committee that will be creating the new General Plan. As citizens we will all be hearing more about this in upcoming city newsletters and on the city website (www.richmond-utah.com). We had our first meeting this past week. Part of our assignment for the next meeting is to come with a list of issues that we believe need to be addressed in this plan for our city. I thought that it would be nice to get feedback from all of you that I can take to the meeting. So, if any of you have thoughts about issues facing the city or that you would like to see addressed, particularly related to the above mentioned areas, please leave a comment here or send me an email (cjsorenson@gmail.com). I will then pass this on to the committee as feedback I heard from the community.
